The Training Module has been created in order to provide new staff with all of the necessary tools, skills, and information to be successful in this role. The details of the Training Module will be discussed in more detail during the interview process.

Are you interested in providing crisis intervention at an emergency shelter for at-risk youth? Then the Relief Counselor position may be right for you!

Essential Duties:

As a Relief Counselor, you will work at our Station 7 overnight emergency shelter, providing family reconciliation, wraparound supports, and crisis intervention to run away and homeless youth, ages 11-17. You will maintain a safe milieu by utilizing behavior management, crisis intervention, and youth development techniques. As a youth mentor, you will act as a positive role model providing guidance, behavior redirection, and teaching soft skills to the youth in the program. You will conduct an intake of clients arriving in the program, complete necessary documentation in staff logs and youth files, and implement youth development approaches. You will provide crisis intervention over the phone and in person to clients seeking services.

Pay & Benefits:

  • $15.00/hour
  • Up to one month of, paid, in-depth training to ensure proper support as you transition into the agency.
  • Advancement opportunities are available as you gain experience within the Station 7 program.


  • Provided both in advance, for pre-planned absences, as well as with short notice, when unplanned circumstances arise.
  • On-call staff much complete a minimum of four (4) shifts per month and one (1) staff meeting per month to remain active.
  • May work a combination of day, swing, and awake overnight shifts. Please indicate your availability on the application.


  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Associate's degree or equivalent experience in social services or related field preferred.
  • Experience with at-risk youth and families preferred.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
