OVERVIEW OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Therapist is responsible for the provision of effective quality counseling services to program clients and families within the therapeutic milieu of Center Point School.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Education: Master's degree in counseling, social work or related field.
  2. Experience: Two years' experience working with youth; one year working with families.
  3. Availability: Monday-Friday, 8:30-4:30 (hours may vary according to the needs of the program).
  4. Driver's License: Valid in Oregon, acceptable record, and insurability under Agency's auto insurance.
  5. Ability to:
    • Ability to work effectively as a member of an integrated team.
    • Ability to work and relate effectively with youth, parents, community, referral sources, and other agencies as needed.
    • Ability to work in a structured, sometimes stressful environment, and maintain a positive mental attitude.
    • Good communication and writing skills.
    • Working knowledge of the developmental issues of adolescents and family treatment models.
    • Computer experience and ability to use email, Intranet, and Internet.
    • Cultural sensitivity and experience working with people from diverse cultural backgrounds.
    • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
    • Professional appearance appropriate to the position.

PREFERRED:

  1. Licensed Clinical Social Worker.
  2. Education and experience in art therapy or other expressive therapies.

Essential Functions:

  1. Maintains an active caseload and provides counseling to individuals, families, and groups.
  2. Conducts and writes comprehensive mental health assessments to determine appropriateness and course of therapy.
  3. Develops treatment plans.
  4. Documents sessions in accordance with regulations and standards.
  5. Writes quarterly progress summaries and other evaluations as needed.
  6. Coordinates treatment activities with Center Point School staff, DHS-Child Welfare, schools and others as appropriate.
  7. Remains current on best practices in the field and related services.
  8. Meets with supervisor for clinical and administrative supervision.
  9. Attends weekly staff meetings, provides clinical updates and course of treatment protocols as appropriate.
  10. Attends Quality Assurance reviews when required.
  11. Completes other duties as assigned.
