As the Special Education Consultant, you will be responsible for the development, implementation, and coordination of Special Education services within the Riverfront School and Career Center for high school-aged at-risk youth. You will review IEP, 504 plans, and testing results to develop goals and interventions for students and facilitate annual IEP reviews. You will recommend appropriate educational programs and behavior support plans for students. You will also provide training to Riverfront School and Career Center staff on the best practices of working with youth on IEP and 504 plans. This position is a part-time position working variable hours on an as-needed basis

People who excel in this role have a minimum of two years of experience teaching or working with special needs youth. Candidates with a Bachelor's degree in Special Education and/or those who are currently enrolled in a Master's program leading to a Special Education Endorsement are encouraged to apply. You must be a certified teacher in the State of Oregon.
The Riverfront School is an accredited alternative school that partners with local school districts to provide individual education opportunities to youth. Riverfront's mission is to "guide and support youth in developing the knowledge, responsibility, and the social skills necessary for productive citizenship." Riverfront also operates as a Career Center for students with the goal to link academic and occupational learning for each youth.
