The Bilingual Rural Street Outreach Worker is responsible for providing education, prevention services, and referral information regarding issues of substance use, sexual abuse, domestic violence, mental health, and other issues relevant to homeless and runaway youth. You will assist in crisis intervention, peer counseling, and de-escalation as needed. You will aid with classroom presentations, outreach to community groups, and participate in regular street outreach shifts. You will complete street outreach in rural areas of Lane County and will work directly with some of the Guatemalan population in Cottage Grove.

The Rural Program is located in Cottage Grove. It is a drop-in shelter for youth, ages 11-21, to seek services related to basic needs, case management, and assistance in obtaining housing and employment. The Rural Program focuses on creating long-term solutions to improve the quality of each client's life.
People who succeed in this role have a passion for helping youth and are able to relate to teens from all different backgrounds, values, and cultures. You must be a positive youth mentor and role model who can demonstrate strong boundaries. You must be able to maintain confidentiality and handle stressful situations. You must be able to communicate to clients in Spanish.
