Part Time - Limited Duration 10 - 18 Hours Week (Flexible)

Lane Transit District (LTD) is the transit provider along with offering the regions Employer Transportation Services Program that promotes transportation options for the Eugene-Springfield region. The region has a population of 240,000 residents that drive 2.9 million miles a day! The mission of Lane Transit District is to connect our community. One way we that we do that is by helping community members reduce the amount of single occupancy vehicle miles traveled in the region by promoting transportation options, including transit, carpooling, vanpooling, biking, walking, and teleworking.

Job Summary:

The Transportation Outreach and Marketing Assistant will work with the Employer Transportation Outreach and Marketing Specialist to: Update the Employer Transportation Coordinator Manual that outlines transportation options services in the Lane Metro area. In addition, the Assistant will assist with community outreach (when it is safe to do so) along the Gateway EmX region to assist community households to obtain transportation options information in order to choose more sustainable travel options. The program will follow the Smart Trips approach to providing this information, which uses education, outreach, and incentives to help shift travel behavior to more sustainable options.


Typical duties in this position include:

Assist with updating the content for the Employer Transportation Coordinator (ETC) Manual, working with local/ regional transportation planners and the Employer Transportation Outreach and Marketing Specialist who will serve as the program advisory team, assist with some COVID safe outreach in the program corridor in Springfield either with virtual or direct events such as bike tune ups. In addition, assist with running incentive programs in the Get There Software tool, meet with other regional transportation staff to learn about the latest travel options and transportation services in the region, assist with updating employer outreach materials, assist with developing recommendations for updating the employer web pages on the LTD webpages, assist with outreach to employers and their employees.

Training will be provided for the candidate who receives this position so they will gain knowledge of transportation, transportation options and marketing services to the community in digital and print form.

A passion for active transportation, sustainable travel options and transit and a fun and positive attitude are essential.

Knowledge, skills, and abilities required:

Self-motivation and initiative; excellent organization, prioritization, and time management skills; strong interpersonal skills; excellent written and verbal communication skills in person and over the phone, as well as comfort initiating conversations with unknown individuals; strong attention to detail and ability to focus in a busy, shared workspace; ability to develop and maintain productive relationships and to collaborate on projects; proficiency in Microsoft Office essential and website platforms is helpful; knowledge of local transit is helpful.

Ideal candidates have taken several college level courses in transportation, public policy, community planning, environmental studies, sociology, marketing or other related disciplines and have a demonstrated interest in active transportation and environmental sustainability.

Qualifications:

Any equivalent combination of education and experience, which provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities, required to perform the job. Education and course work can substitute for years of experience.

Typical qualifications would be:

Candidates that have taken several college level courses in transportation, public policy, community planning, environmental studies, sociology, marketing or other related disciplines and at least 3 years of college level coursework. In addition, they have a demonstrated interest in active transportation and environmental sustainability.

Compensation and Work Schedule:

This position is a part-time limited duration position @ 10-18 hours per week and not eligible for benefits. The pay range is between $17.78 to $23.71per hour DOE. The work schedule for this position is flexible depending on availability between Monday-Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
