POSITION SUMMARY: The Community Family Support Specialist is responsible for providing program support prevention services for families led by a parent who experiences a cognitive limitation. Services focus on child development, parent education and coordination of services/activities for members of the household. Support teaching and family supports to ensure high quality intervention. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Ensure workflow and/or procedures are kept up-to-date for owned tasks
Maintain all safety protocols and techniques within the workplace
Maintain an accurate daily record on timesheet of hours worked
Acts responsive and engaged with developing a positive work environment which includes providing honest, respectful and direct feedback to other staff, participating in team meetings, team development, personal training plans, respecting diversity and differences among staff, clients and stakeholders.
Assessment of new referrals and enrollment
Provide support and direction to ensure family needs and goals are met.
Provide information regarding access to community resources
Work through crisis situations guiding positive outcomes with/without program staff
Screen children and family dynamics, provide responsive supports to parents and children,
Use approved child development curriculum with each family to promote positive parent-child relationships
Support parenting classes, support group, and family events.
Provide respite and classroom support up to 25 hours a week
Provide wrap around services building a bridge from home to preschool for positive relationships
Completes 25 hours of yearly training
Other duties as assigned by manager

Sound judgment and common sense in decision-making
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
Step 6 in the Oregon Registry or have a professional development plan outlining steps to be taken to achieve Step 6 or Qualified teacher through DELC
One year of experience working in Early Childhood Education with young children
Experience working with adults with developmental disabilities/cognitive difficulties preferred
State of Oregon Driver's License and valid vehicle insurance
Registered in the Central Background Check, Current First Aid and CPR card, Food Handler's Card, Annual Mandatory Reporter/Child Abuse and Neglect training.
PHYSICAL DEMAND:
The physical effort typically applied in this job will vary depending on situation. In the office environment traditional computer use, keyboarding, standing, walking, sitting and communicating will apply. Out in the field, driving, standing, walking, communicating as well as some lifting and bending may apply.

Frequent mental and visual focus is required while working with children, families and during recordkeeping and reporting.

Projects out in the field could result in a variety of work setting
Playground and off-site work will present a variety of environmental conditions
ATTENDANCE:
This position requires availability based on business need
It is imperative that attendance protocols are adhered to and that Department Call-In Policies are maintained at all times
