  1. POSITION SUMMARY: The Toddler Teacher & Family Support Specialist provides high-quality early childhood education, family support, and respite care services for toddlers and their families. This role focuses on supporting child development, strengthening parent-child relationships, and promoting healthy family functioning through classroom instruction, in-home visiting, and temporary respite care. Services are delivered in alignment with agency core values of stewardship, compassion, integrity, and equity.
  2. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Maintain up-to-date workflow procedures and ensure compliance with program guidelines across classroom, respite, and home visiting services
  • Follow all safety protocols and maintain a safe, nurturing environment for children in classroom, home, and community settings
  • Accurately document daily work hours and complete required reporting in a timely manner
  • Contribute to a positive and respectful work environment through effective communication, teamwork, and participation in professional development
  • Provide developmentally appropriate toddler classroom instruction supporting social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development
  • Conduct home visits to assess family needs and support parenting skills and child development in the home setting
  • Provide respite care services ensuring safe, engaging, and developmentally appropriate supervision of children
  • Complete intake assessments for new families and support enrollment and onboarding processes
  • Collaborate with families to identify goals and provide individualized support to meet child and family needs
  • Provide information, referrals, and connections to community resources and supportive services
  • Use approved early childhood curriculum to promote parent-child relationships and school readiness skills
  • Support transitions between home and classroom environments to ensure continuity of care and learning
  • Facilitate or support parenting education, group activities, and family engagement events
  • Respond appropriately to crisis situations using program guidelines to support positive outcomes for children and families
  • Maintain consistent communication with families, supervisors, and team members regarding progress, concerns, and service delivery
  • Other duties as assigned by manager

  1. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Step 6 in the Oregon Registry or have a professional development plan outlining steps to be taken to achieve Step 6 or Qualified teacher through DELC
  • One year of experience working in Early Childhood Education with young children
  • Experience working with adults with developmental disabilities/cognitive difficulties preferred
  • State of Oregon Driver's License and valid vehicle insurance
  • Registered in the Central Background Check, Current First Aid and CPR card, Food Handler's Card, Annual Mandatory Reporter/Child Abuse and Neglect training.

    • Frequent mental and visual focus is required while working with children, families and during recordkeeping and reporting.

    • Working conditions will typically be in a climate controlled and regulated environment
    • Projects out in the field could result in a variety of work setting
    • Playground and off-site work will present a variety of environmental conditions
  4. ATTENDANCE:
    • This position requires availability based on business need
    • It is imperative that attendance protocols are adhered to and that Department Call-In Policies are maintained at all times
